Greater Milwaukee Urban League education and youth-centered programs are cornerstones of our work. We believe our young people are the future of Milwaukee and we all share in the responsibility of making sure they are prepared for success. Youth Leadership Summit/Laptop Scholarships
Brings high school students together to collaborate, network and build leadership skills and other successful practices for personal growth.
The Youth Leadership Summit was suspended during the 2020-21 year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However:
Engages 5th-8th grade students in daylong, hands-on STEAM activities with local companies and organizations.
The STEAM Summit was held pre-COVID in February 2021.More than 200 Milwaukee Public Schools’ elementary school students participated thanks to the support of 15 companies and nonprofit organizations.
MUNCH & LEARN PROGRAM
Provides educational activities and school supplies to students learning remotely during the COIVD-19 pandemic. Students also received toiletry and snack items.
600 students from four schools were supported during the 2020-21 school year.
Delivers gloves, scarves, hats, and socks to MUL partner schools to keep students warm and healthy in cold weather.
150 articles of warm winter clothing were provided to students.
Community Schools Partnership: Brings community support and resources – in collaboration with Milwaukee Public Schools and United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County—to improve academic outcomes.
Graduate to Employment: Supports 16-21 year-olds who do not plan to attend college with the career exploration and soft skills training important to workplace success.
Project Ready STEAM: Exposes students to careers in science, technology, engineering, arts/agriculture, and mathematics (STEAM) through hands-on, interactive programs.
